Anthem Javelin Class Damage Chart Breakdown. With Anthem just around the corner, one fan makes a chart breaking down the damage types for every Javelin suit so fans can plan for which one they. As long as your melee is 100 at level 1 (just put on a Default set to double check), take the Melee Damage Number you see and divide by 100, then divide by 7.466, and you’ll get your Arbitrary Power Level Multiplier. The multiplier at Power Level 75 is 22.622, and this is what I want to highlight. This number is insanely high.
Think of things like they are tagged. Something can have several modifiers, besides melee has its own modifier, would be weird to double down on it with other ones. Because there is 'damage' on guns then there is physical damage, also elemental damage and fire damage. There are also specific resits and general resists to elements. Jav +dmg affects all forms of damage: weapon, melee, gear, combo and ult. Jav +gear dmg affects gear and ult. Gear +dmg affects that specific item. Avg ilvl affects the hidden multiplier, which affects melee, combo and ult. +melee/combo/ult affects only those things. Players that prefer melee DPS and high mobility will find something to like with the Interceptor javelin. Anthem might not look too complex from afar, but when you start digging into the nitty-gritty details, there are tons of features the game doesn’t go out of its way to explain.
Combos are pretty simple, but elemental effects, shields, melee special attacks and more just aren’t explained in any way. Most of the time, these little features aren’t that important — but if you’re planning on sticking around for the end-game, and want to take on the Grandmaster 1 difficulty, then you’ll want to buffer your brain with all the Anthem info you can get.
Here, I’m going to break down a selection of simple stats. Even after playing through the campaign, I didn’t realize that each element has a special damage property, or that certain melee attacks were more powerful than others. I didn’t know exactly how much more powerful Masterwork weapons were compared to Legendary weapons — or that you can stack consumables before jumping into a Stronghold. Here’s hoping my ignorance will help you Freelancers out there.

How To Combo | Primers & Detonators
It’s never explained in-game, but combos are special powerful attacks you can land with gear abilities. First, you prime an enemy with a “Primer”, then detonate that primed enemy with a “Detonator” — the trick is figuring out which gear primes and detonates.
Gear DOES NOT state if it is a primer or a detonator. You need to check for a specific symbol.
- Primers have a circle symbol beside the gear’s name.
- Detonators have a 4-point explosion symbol beside the gear’s name.
Check your gear and see if there is a primer / detonator symbol. It makes life so much easier.
Rarity Of Weapon / Gear Determines Damage
Depending on the rarity, weapons (and gear) become stronger. Your masterwork weapon is stronger than an epic of the same class, and a legendary is even stronger. The difference can be pretty surprising.
- Epic -> Masterwork = 32% bonus damage.
- Epic -> Legendary = 52% bonus damage.
Masterwork components become even better. Component Armor / Shield Masterworks gain 400%-440% bonus, depending on the Javelin you’re using.
You Can Stack Consumables — But Only Different Rarities
Consumables can be stacked to give yourself a bigger bonus, but only if you’re using different rarity levels. The exact same consumable, used three times will not stack. But, if you use an Epic, a Rare, and an Uncommon consumable, you’ll be able to stack the bonus for a bigger buff.
Enemy Shields Block Status Effects, Primers & More
Shields on enemies can block a lot of things. When shields recharge, an enemy cannot be primed, and all status effects are blocked. Thankfully, you can still detonate an enemy if they’ve been primed before their shield recharges. Shielded enemies block critical hits, too.
- Shieldcracker abilities deal +50% damage to shields.
- Shieldcracker abilities deal -50% damage to armor.
- Armorcracker abilities deal -50% damage to shields.
- Armorcracker abilities deal +50% damage to armor.
Every Element Has Different Effects
You might not even realize that each element has a different effect on armor or shields. Some elements, like fire, have a burn-over-time effect that continues to damage armor. Strangely, acid doesn’t seem to have this same effect — special abilities like the gear acid cloud used by Interceptors does have a similar effect.
- Electric
- +50% damage to Shields
- -50% damage to Armor
- When electrified, primed targets will discharge electricity that connects with nearby enemies.
- Will deal damage to shield + armor. If you drain shields, the remainder of the damage will hit armor.
- Acid
- -50% damage to Shields
- +50% damage to Armor
- Ice
- +25% damage to Shields
- -25% damage to Armor
- Will deal damage to shield + armor. If you drain shields, the remainder of the damage will hit armor.
- Fire
- -25% damage to Shields
- +25% damage to Armor
- Provides continuous damage-over-time. +133% damage (13 hits every 1 second). Very good against bosses.
Different Melee Attacks Do More / Less Damage
Your standard melee attack in Anthem is pretty good, but there are certain configurations that are actually stronger. Depending on your Javelin, you can do more (or less) melee damage with the following attacks.
- Ranger
- +33% Damage for Aerial Melee
- Storm
- No bonus for melee.
- Colossus
- +45% Damage for Aerial Melee
- -55% Damage for Shield Charge
- +18% Damage for Shield Bash
- Interceptor
- Ignores shield / armor resistance. Always does 100% damage to targets.
- Except for Titans. They still resist.
- Interceptors attack in 2 hit + 3 hit combos that cycle. They’re much faster than other Javelins in melee.
- +50% Damage for Aerial Melee
- Ignores shield / armor resistance. Always does 100% damage to targets.

After a year of waiting, Anthem, a new looter-shooter from Bioware, is finally out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. As expected, the game has several different classes to choose, each of which provides its own benefits.
Called javelins, players pilot these exosuits, taking advantage of their strengths to compliment various playstyles. Below, we'll go over each of Anthem's javelins, their strengths and weaknesses, and the playstyles they're best suited for.
Storm
Storm is the universal choice. It is the most balanced javelin of all, and it has amazing elemental abilities that allow you to blast and freeze your enemies.
The best part about Storm is its ability to stay in the air for extremely long periods of time. You can literally just fly over your enemies and shoot them from above while staying in complete safety.
If you're dealing with someone stronger than you, just use the Hoarfrost Shards ability to freeze your enemy and keep them from dealing damage.
However, freezing isn't the only option you have. In a similar fashion, you can blast your enemies with Lightning Strike or Fireball. These elemental abilities are so powerful that you will be able to quickly deal with several targets at a time.
Lastly, with the ultimate ability Elemental Storm, you can combine all of these elements into one and create a devastating AoE detonation that will deal massive amounts of damage.
A Good Match For:
Players that prefer crowd control and ranged DPS will love Storm for its ability to hover over enemies and use elemental damage from a distance.
Not a Good Match For:
Players that prefer to stay close to their targets will find this playstyle chaotic.
Colossus
Colossus is the tankiest javelin in the game and a perfect team leader with a huge pool of health. On top of that, you can carry a heavy shield capable of protecting you from some serious damage on the way.
If enemies surround you, activate Collossus' Shock Coil ability to electrify anyone standing close by. Then, shoot with your Burst Mortar to rain a volley of mortar shells down on them.
If enemies run toward you in a column formation or in a horizontal line, you can use your Flame Thrower. It will not only damage them on impact, but it will also set them on fire, dealing more damage over time.
Because of Colossus' power, this javelin typically draws the attention of all enemies, thus freeing up your teammates. To finish things off, use your ultimate Siege Cannon ability to blast everything in close range to smithereens.
A Good Match For:
Players that prefer a tank-focused playstyle and heavy DPS may find Colossus to be the best option. It has access to some heavy artillery as well as some excellent defense mechanisms.
Not a Good Match For:
Players that can't stand slow, plodding gameplay will find Colossus boring.
Ranger
Ranger is the perfect javelin for beginners and utilitarian players alike. That's because Ranger works in almost any situation by using the wide array of abilities at its disposal.
This javelin has access to several types of grenades, such as Frag, Inferno, Frost, Seeker, and Sticky. The first two are excellent for AoE damage, while Frost grenade, as the title suggests, freezes enemies. However, Seeker is probably the most interesting grenade, as it actively seeks out a target to frag.
There are a few other similar tricks under the Ranger's sleeve. For example, Homing Missile fires a projectile that chases a nearby enemy until it explodes.
A Good Match For:
Players that prefer ranged DPS and single-target DPS roles fit the Ranger's playstyle the best. If you like to focus on killing one enemy at a time, then this should be your first choice.
Not a Good Match For:
Players that like to play against several enemies at a time using AoE will not find all the suitable tools in Ranger's arsenal.
Interceptor
What Is Melee Dmg Anthem Patch
Interceptor is undoubtedly the fastest javelin in the game, but it deals the least amount of damage. However, if you prefer a melee-centric, extremely agile playstyle, then Interceptor will fit you the best.
Although Interceptor has a few neat assault tricks, its main abilities revolve around the Strike System. For example, the Tempest Strike ability is just one massive single-target attack, and it can be combined with Nova Strike or Star Strike.
One of Ranger's most useful abilities, though, is Rail Cry, which removes all status effects from your teammates.
A Good Match For:
Players that prefer melee DPS and high mobility will find something to like with the Interceptor javelin.
Not a Good Match For:
